Specific funds
Rural and Islands Housing Fund
The funds aim to increase the supply of affordable housing of all tenures in rural Scotland. The fund is open to a wide range of applicants and has two main parts:
Scottish Land Fund
Offers grants of up to £1 million to help communities take ownership of the land and buildings that matter to them, as well as practical support to develop projects.

Community & Renewable Energy Scheme
The fund aims to support and grow community and local energy projects throughout Scotland, as well as aiming for a considerable increase in the number of shared ownership installations across the country.

Low Carbon Infrastructure Transition Programme (LCITP)
The Programme aims to support the development of substantive private, public and community low-carbon projects across Scotland through the provision of development support, expert advice and funding.

Nationwide Community Grants
The Community Grant programme was launched to support local organisations to provide housing in communities and help tackle local housing shortages. They have helped many communities on a national scale and can offer grants of up to £500,000. https://www.nationwidecommunitygrants.co.uk/
Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund
Round 4 open for Expressions of Interest for projects delivered between 1st November 2021 and 31st March 2023. The fund is designed to support collaborative projects that focus on rural parts of Scotland that are facing immediate and damaging pressures on their infrastructure, due to significant increase in visitor numbers.

HIE Strengthening Communities

The funds aim to increase the supply of affordable housing of all tenures in rural Scotland. The fund is open to a wide range of applicants and has two main parts:
- A main fund that offers capital support (grants and loans) for direct provision of new affordable housing, and refurbishment of existing empty properties
- A small fund that contributes to feasibility studies
